Mary Elizabeth PATCH was born on the 25th of October 1891 at Cooyar Station, near Emu Creek in Queensland. Her parents were Thomas Joseph PATCH and Elizabeth CONNORS.The following advertisement appeared in the Brisbane Courier of Wednesday 9 December 1891;
PATCH - On the 25th October, at Cooyar Station, the wife of Thomas Patch, of a daughter. Both doing well.
Her early days were spent working the land with her family on Roslyn Station at Emu Creek.
